"Date of Service was April 2nd. The quality of work and customer service were fine. But after it was all said and done,, I kept thinking what I was charged to replace the oil pan gasket was on the high side. So I did some checking around the next day or two. I was charged $91.93 for the oil pan gasket. I checked the price at 4 different places and here are the retail prices-NAPA-$37.80, Autozone-$35.99, Advance Auto Parts-$36.99, and Pep Boys $36.99. They all had the same gasket from FelPro. I would imagine that Sterling gets its parts probably from NAPA, . So for a $37 gasket I was charged almost 2 1/2 times that much. Seems excessive to me. Then for the oil change and labor I was charged $18.60 for the oil change (no problem with this) and $514.65 (big problem) for the labor. This total is $533.25. My grand total was $625. I contacted another auto repair company within a half mile of Sterling, and the cost for the oil change and labor for the oil pan gasket was $329.67. The gasket was $36.99. So at this place I could have had it all done for $366.66 plus taxes and any shop/supply fee. This total would easily have been under $400. I went to Sterling due to a recommendation from someone I know. I was told Sterling had good prices for the work. Looks like I found out the hard way. I don't know about you, but I call that being ripped off to the tune of a couple of hundred bucks. Needless to say, I will not be going back to Sterling Automotive for any of my auto service/repair."

"Fonda tells it like it is when you go for a repair. He gives you recommendations for work that should be done, but there's no pressure to do it. I recently took my wife's car for a tune up. He didn't pressure me to do all the repairs suggested (many service places will make it sound like you are driving a death trap if you don't do it now). Then i needed brakes done on my car. He was straight forward and told me the front brakes were totally shot and had to be done, but didn't pressure me when I wanted to wait on the back brakes.

It's hard to find someone that's really straight with you and doesn't try to take you for everything they can. Work is always done quick and he's genuine and grateful to his customers. I feel very welcome in his shop and I don't feel robbed.

Brakes R&R w/new rotors & pads fixed satisfactorily. My point w/this review is they should have caught brake issue on 1st visit.
